Behind every service we provide is a dedicated team of professionals, each bringing their unique expertise and enthusiasm to our business.

Here in the heart of Charnwood sits our long established Barber shop. With over 90 years of Traditional Barbering under this roof, were excited to further this by offering to pass on those hard to find skills and maybe even share some of those trade secrets!

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is 'Mike' better known locally and predictably as "Mike the Barber" .

For me it all started back when i was 30 years old, i decided it was time for a  career change.  From the world of Motorsport and fast cars and into the exciting world of hair i went.

It comes as no surprise that my family holds a rich heritage in hairdressing  it seemed it too ran rich in my blood and so the journey began.

I started by completing my Barbers training qualifications  (City and Guilds) in Leicestershire . It wasn't too long after this that  i was lucky enough to be introduced to a very traditional barber "Mister Paul" with over 40 years experience dating back to the 70s .  A jovial man with a zest for barber shop banter and a whole wealth of business knowledge in the industry! He also boasted family heritage across both Barbering and ladies hairdressing.

I proceeded with advanced training in skills that could only be found in such a place and with such a long served barber.  Following this I went on to build what would be 12 great years in Barbering and still ongoing today.

Over these years i have met many many Barbers and also aspiring Barbers, some of which i went on to train from scratch having never picked up a pair of hairdressing scissors in their life. These people went on to have great enjoyable careers in Barbering, some with myself at our shop in Mountsorrel and some elsewhere.  keeping those good old traditions going . you can read some of these peoples testimonials at the bottom of this page. 

We simply had to create "MDP Barber Academy" officially.  keeping old traditions alive.
